Patient Success Story: How Emergency Care Helped Save Enzo the Dalmatian

Enzo the Dalmatian

When Enzo, a spunky 1-year-old Dalmatian, suddenly began showing signs of distress, his parents knew something wasn’t right. Enzo was brought to AnimalUrgent Care North East, where he was diagnosed with a urethral obstruction caused byurate crystals—a serious and potentially life-threatening condition that can prevent a dog from being able to urinate.

Thankfully, Dr. Hannah Rocha quickly identified the problem and took immediate action to relieve the obstruction. The next day, Dr. Kristin Helmer continued Enzo’s care, closely monitoring his recovery and helping develop a treatment plan. Due to the swift intervention of the AUC emergency team, Enzo avoided invasive surgery and was stabilized with medication and a specially modified diet.

Now, Enzo is thriving—full of energy and back to his playful self. His pet parent shared:

“I just wanted to voice my immense gratitude and appreciation for the outstanding care that these doctors provided, as well as the amazing vet techs and front desk staff. Everyone was very empathetic and knowledgeable during this scary time. Enzo and I can’t thank you enough.”

Why Emergency Veterinary Care Matters

Enzo’s story is a powerful reminder that when it comes to our pets, every second counts. Sudden symptoms—whether it’s vomiting, trouble urinating, difficulty breathing, or unexplained lethargy—can escalate quickly. That’s why it’s essential to seek emergencycare immediately, rather than wait for a regular vet appointment.

At Animal Urgent Care, we understand how stressful pet emergencies can be. That’s why all three of our locations—Arvada, Park Hill, and North East—are open 24/7/365, with no appointment necessary. Our emergency teams are trained to handle everything from trauma and toxin exposures to allergic reactions, blockages, seizures, and beyond.

We offer:

  • Immediate triage and stabilization

  • Advanced diagnostics (bloodwork, radiology, ultrasound)

  • Urgent medical and surgical intervention

  • Compassionate communication and client support
